Less than a Month…

I have to admit that I’m kind of proud of myself for even thinking about sitting down to blog. It’s just been so hard these past few months and when I’d think about it, I’d find myself breaking into a sweat, my heart palpitating, my head all kinds of dizzy, too.

Then all I’d want to do was lay down.

So I would…sometimes for days.

Such a vicious cycle.

But like I said in my last post, I’m working on getting better. I even have artsy things to share with y’all this time! (I know, shocker, huh? lol)

First though, my oldest daughter, Savannah, has come to live with us. She got here at the first part of April, joining her son (our grandson, Noah) who came to live with us back at the first of November last year. I don’t know if I said much about it on here but I’m doubting I did…suffice to say, our house is a bit crowded these days with 4 generations plus my hubby all under one roof.

Because of the need for another bedroom for Savannah, I had to give up my art studio. Now our bedroom is also my art room and that makes it extremely FULL…and I don’t know if I like it.

In fact, I know I don’t like it.

In fact, it really sucks.

But I just don’t know how it can be any other way right now. Everyone needs space so, whatcha gonna do? Damn, that makes me feel like a total doormat. *sigh* (By the way, don’t judge the unmade bed full of my furry babies…it was one of those days.)

I tell y’all what…I have so much to spill; so much to talk about, but I know that I can’t do it all in one post. Hell, I’m figuring that I’ve already lost about 50% of you by now and another 25% are close to dozing off. LOL

15409969896_3c42630a01_zOn the art front, I’m really struggling lately to and I’m hoping that getting back to my blog will help inspire me. One can hope, right?

This is an art journal page I have in progress today. Just getting started so it’s kind of funky right now.

Hey, ya got to start somewhere, right?

I’ve also been doing a few other crafty/artsy things to keep myself busy…and sane.

Things like beading on a small loom. You know, with tiny little seed beads…I’ve got a cute little beaded bracelet almost finished.

I’ve also taken up stitching some special kind of mending on some of my favorite clothes. It’s a bit of a cross between embroidery and a Japanese mending or darning. Whatever it is, it’s very soothing to do as I watch tv or listen to my favorite podcasts.

Speaking of podcasts, do y’all have any favorites that I’m not already addicted to? I love This American Life, The Moth, the new one called Serial, and Garrison Keillor. If you’ve got favs that aren’t on my listening list, drop me a note in the comments and clue me in on the ones you love.

Anyway, I think I’ll call this one done for now and head to the kitchen to work on our dinner…chicken spaghetti, yum!

Ta ta for now…
Barb

  1. Barb! Its so good to see you again! Sorry about the intrusion of your art space...that happened to me when we took on a foreign exchange student last year. Kudos for still trying to do some art! We miss you!

  2. I am still here! lol .... and I am sorry for the smaller space to art. It is so tough on your creativity. But you have some space so think of it as ... minimizing ... lol

  3. So VERY glad to see you blog again!!! We, too are crushed for space. Our daughter Sarah now lives with us and will be flying to FL tomorrow to pick up her furniture, etc. It IS very crowded and the art space is being eaten up. BUT - someday we will get my dad's estate settled, and be able to MOVE to a place with at least 3 BR. Love you, girl. Every time I use my Neocolors or see the tabs you made for me, I think of you, and hope all is well. So VERY proud of you for quitting smoking!! xoxo Trece

  5. So glad to see you back! Your already-big & loving heart obviously has expanded as your house has to make room for those you care about and for. May you be blessed for the blessing you are to others, those you know and those whom you may only know through your blog. You are an inspiration, both artistically and otherwise. Prayers continue...
